Devices of sound can increase pleasure and clarity especially in poetry. Following are some of the devices:
1. Alliteration. It is the repetition of initial consonants.
Example: the soft surge of the sea
2. Rhyme. It is the repetition fo a stressed sound, usually the final syllable.
Example: The rain in Spain stays mainly in the plain.
3. Assonance. It is the repetition of vowel sounds in a phrase.
Example: The owl swept out of the woods and circled the house.
4. Rhythm. It is the recurring flow of strong and weak beats in a phrase.
Example: Chicka, chicka boom, boom! Will there be room?
